Anti exactly why will taxing big corporations and billionaires more not raise prices?

Let's follow the math.

For the sake of an example, let's say that there's a business that sells widgets. They buy them from China for $1 and sell them for $2... a 100% profit. They sell 1 billion widgets a year, so they make $1 billion and give their CEO $1 million a year.

Now, let's say that Trump's 60% tariff raises their wholesale from $1 to $1.60. They still want to make a 100% profit, so now they sell them for $3.20. Now they make $1.6 billion a year... an extra $600 million profit.

On the other hand, let's say that there's no tariff. The current top tax rate for people making over $609,350 a year is 37%, so the CEO would normally pay $356,840 in taxes...

Kamala's plan would have raised that to 39.6% on incomes over $400,000...

So the same CEO would have paid $409,160... a mere $52,320.

Assuming that the company agreed to give the CEO a $50,000 raise to cover the cost of the new taxes, spread over 1 billion widgets would have increased the price by $0.00005.

In summary... Kamala's tax plan may have raised prices by a fraction of 1%, while Trump's tariff policy will raise them anywhere from 20% to 60%.

The federal government applies tariffs on everything from Chinese-made televisions to Canadian lumber, spiking prices. A more than two-year pause in legal immigration has contributed to labor shortages - we have about 2 ½ million fewer workers than we would have had, had we remained on trend. And housing costs are up - though moderating slightly in recent months - not just because of pricier materials and labor, but also because we are not building enough houses to keep up with demand.

The Fed said that the increase in housing costs is because of Trump's tariffs and Trump's "pause in legal immigration."

But go ahead and blame Trump's failures on Biden.

North Carolina Real Estate Market Predictions

Here are the predictions for North Carolina's housing market in the remaining months of 2024 and 2025:

Number of Home Buyers Will Increase: As inventory grows and homes stay on the market, more home shoppers are expected to re-enter the market. The historically high interest rates averted buyers in 2023. But the easing inflation and stabilizing rates will bring back house hunters.New Home Constructions Will Shoot Up: 33.4% of single-family homes for sale in Q1 were newly built. This rise in home construction will continue due to increased demand from remote workers and favorable mortgage rates.Home Prices Will Drop: After a period of sluggish growth and due to NAR settlement, home prices are expected to begin a gradual decline.iBuyers Will Continue to Make Lowball Offers: iBuyers like Opendoor and Offerpad, which once offered 104.1% of market value in 2021, now offer around 70%. Such lowball offers to sellers will increase opportunities for individual buyers.

You ought to try to find something in the Raleigh area. Or even a 40 mile radius.
