The national anthem is a solemn hymn to the country and should be reserved for events such as Veteran's Day, Memorial Day, military funerals etc. It should not be demeaned by being played at sports and political events.

Could you imagine how complicated this would be, though?

Who is the singer? How do they vote? How did their parents vote? Have they ever said anything on social media that could be construed as right-wing or left wing? You would have to have a performer with ZERO political thoughts, ever!

Even the race, sexuality, and gender of the performer would be important... can't be black, female, or ever said anything pro-LGBTQ or it looks like an advantage to the Democrat.

These events have the national anthem played: World Series, Stanley Cup finals, NBA games, NFL games. It ia played so people apparently can take a knee or protest it by refusing to be present. Why shouldn't the national anthem be played before a presidential debate? If a candidate is offended, i would love to see them take a knee to protest and ask doe my vote.
