What does the Christian Religion say a person must do to receive Eternal Life?

You can slice it turn it into religion but you CAN'T change the teaching of Obedience to the Father. If you loved Him with with your heart. You would keep the FAITH in the gift of Life offered to all.

. 49 I don't speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. 50 And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say."

To receive eternal life in Christianity, having faith in Jesus Christ is essential. This means believing that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior. John 3:16 states, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life."

Alongside this, repentance is crucial-turning away from sin and seeking God's forgiveness. Luke 13:3 says,

"But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!"

Baptism is also important, as it symbolizes entering into the Christian faith. Mark 16:16 says, "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned."

Living according to Jesus' teachings, loving God, and loving others as oneself is vital. In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus teaches, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Lastly, persevering in faith throughout one's life is key. Matthew 24:13 says, "But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved."

rednecker. Have you ever read the Bible and who formed Adam? Was it God or the LORD GOD? Maybe if you would get AWAY from the indoctrination of the CATHOLICS PAGAN CHRISTIAN religion you could see Truth.

You have to believe that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.

Forky the Clown said "Human effort accomplishes nothing." but demands that folks rest on Saturday! Ain't that a knee slapper?

Tell us another 'en Forkster! The more you type the more of a macaron or macaroon (which ever one is flakey and full of mashed up nuts) you and your Forksters are.

Which is it? Do we have to rest on Saturday (a human effort NOT taught by Jesus) or are our efforts not worth the, well, effort?

HYPOCRITE The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But some of you do not believe me." (For Jesus knew from the beginning which ones didn't believe, and he knew who would betray him.) 65 Then he said, "That is why I said that people can't come to me unless the Father gives them to me."

66 At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. 67 Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, "Are you also going to leave?"

68 Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. 69 We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God

Forky the Clown called me a hypocrite. The same person what has said "Jesus said Keep the Ten Commandments!" over and over yet can't find a verse to back him up and has posted time and time again that Christians don't follow Jesus's commandments, yet can't find a single example of such a commandment. Why, if I had any feelings they might be hurt. Honestly, from you Forky, being called a hypocrite just means I'm doing something right.

Yep, Jesus said to keep "His" commandments, not those commandments what God gave to the Israelites. I'd think even a child could look at Jesus's commandments and see that they ain't the same as the ones listed in the Ten Commandments. After all, if Jesus had said "Keep the Sabbath" surely, after all this time you'd have posted the Book, Chapter and Verse wouldn't you?

Christians believe what Jesus said. They believe ever word of it. They follow His commandments (or try to) down to the letter.

I reckon we can agree that if a body is following commandments what ain't Jesus's then that person ain't following Jesus can't we?

Say, Forkster, whose commandments are you following since they ain't those of Jesus.

HYPOCRITE you denying Jesus is speaking for the Father. If you believe in the teaching of Jesus you would OBEY The Fathers Commandment. God made a Covenant with Israelites Jesus made the same Covenant with the world 🌎 🌍. God said to OBEY his voice Jesus said my people obey my VOICE.

When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father's commandments and remain in his love. 11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! 12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. 13 There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn't confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. 16 You didn't choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

Goodness Forky the Clown, how many posts are you allowed to post asking the same question in different ways?

Christians believe exactly what Jesus said. Want a couple of for examples?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 ESV)

"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." (Mark 16:16 ESV)

The Book of John concludes with the following which weren't said by Jesus but were attributed to John, one of Jesus's main Disciples: "Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the SOn of God, and that be believing you may have life in his name." (John 20; 30-13 ESV)

Guess what Forky not nary a one of them says "Believe in Jesus AND follow the Ten Commandments." Which leads me to ask (again) where do you get it from? If it ain't coming from Jesus (and we know it's not) might it be coming from Satan himself?

What say you Forkster?

2 Timothy 4
King James Version
4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
