I've been working on my lawn for several years now, and I've learned a lot! Mine was 90% weed, so last year I wiped the whole thing out, put in sprinklers, and then re-sowed. Sprinklers have made watering SO much easier!

The goal is 1/2" of water every 2-3 days.

If you have sprinklers, too, then take an empty tuna can and sit in in the yard. Then turn on the sprinklers, and measure how long it takes to fill that can up about half way. That's how long you'll need to run the sprinklers.

Or if you want to be fancy, you can get a soil meter for about $10-15:

That would be considerably more accurate, as you can manually check the moisture level and if the top 1/2" is dry then you know to turn them on.

As a rule of thumb, when it's over 80 degrees in the day water every 2 days. Under 80, you can do every 3 days. And, of course, water early in the morning.

Pretty dang bad I might add. Very little to no relief in sight.
The lawns once lush and green? Are becoming a dry ugly brown.
I water mine as much as I may. But? Doesn't TO much watering become unhealthy?
So? Any lawn legends care to advise. Thanks in advance. :)
