Volvo scales back electric car ambitions

Had the development of solar power not been deliberately obstructed by the fossil fuel profiteers (with the aid of their right wing cronies) over the last five decades, the problems you itemize would no longer exist.

It would seem that the only time that so called "conservatives" support progress is in the development of war weapons, or when some avaricious profiteer sees the opportunity for a quick profit.

DB Cooper, there are too many factors that contribute to the demand decline of 100% EV's, but the liberal democrats will not acknowledge those factors.

1. The sheer amount of natural resources to produce the batteries, and it takes fossil fueled equipment to mine these resources.
2. The charging stations rely on the power grid that uses predominately coal to generate the power to run the charging stations.
3. There is no good alternative for disposing of the large lithium ion batteries when they go bad.
4. The charging infrastructure isn't in place, and the current Transportation secretary Pete butt**** said they would build thousands of charging stations, they went through millions of dollars and built 6 or 9 charging stations, can't remember the exact number, but it was less than 10.
5. The power grid doesn't have the capacity to charge all the EV's if there was 30% of the cars sold and in service, plus they are plagued by problems with the heat and extreme cold.
6. Hybrid vehicles are the way to go for lower emissions and lower emissions all the way around because they charge themselves, they convert kinetic energy into stored energy.
7. Elon Musk even said that its not feasible or smart to have 100% EV's, and he has the most to gain financially from EV sales going up.

This is the biggest reason I say that the low/no emissions EV debate is false and people are just blindly believing that the govt and media are telling them. I saw emissions test, from multiple sources, on the Ferrari 812 Superfast and 812 TDF, both are naturally aspirated V12 engines, and at the rpm range for the emissions test neither of these vehicles emitted enough emissions to even register, no turbos or superchargers to help the engines be more efficient. My point being, if Ferrari can produce essentially a 800 HP vehicle that burns fossil fuels that clean and efficiently, there is no reason that all the other OEM's can't produce 200 HP cars that burn clean and emit extremely low amounts or no emissions at all. The EV mandate, and EV's in general are a utopian dream for democrats who are getting paid to push them on the American people. Fossil fuels will never be eliminated and go away completely.

That's true, however some car manufacturers are just not there yet with their battery technology.

Buckle your seat belts, electric cars are coming like it or not.

And yet, they're still making 'em, still selling 'em and still buying 'em.

DumbBell, there have been a host of people like you throughout history that have predicted that various projects would fail, they have inevitably been wrong. Whether their motivations have been religious, superstitious or as in your case political/wishful thinking, the eventual outcome has been that they were wrong. Historically all progress in every field has been in spite of people like you, just as stagnation has been due to people like you.
You belong to that pitiful regressive cadre that seems to exist in every society and for which no good reason can be given for their existence.

Swedish automaker Volvo Cars scrapped its target of going all electric by 2030 on Wednesday. Major automakers have seen slowing demand for EVs partly due to a lack of affordable models and the slow roll-out of charging points, and Volvo Cars is also bracing for the effects of European tariffs on electric cars made in China. - Reuters

I laughed my *** off when I first heard this insanity a few years back. Maybe 2050 and I doubt that.
