Reading further, the law doesn't target businesses that distribute fossil fuels... it goes after "an entity or a successor in interest to an entity that was engaged in the trade or business of extracting fossil fuel or refining crude oil between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2019" and "were responsible for more than one billion metric tons of covered greenhouse gas emissions."
So running and hiding at this point wouldn't help.
That would be like someone repeatedly raping a woman, then when she files charges saying, "well fine, I won't rape her anymore then."

No, as soon as the law is enacted, I would shut down all fossil fuel into the state. The economy would be in shambles within three weeks. The state would lose more money in the short term because the oil companies will drag the litigation for years. As far as tobacco, it is strange that the states that were against it is now for marijuana which contains the same ingredients as tobacco. Now where was tobacco primarily grown and what jobs were brought in to replace those jobs. Colorado even states for every dollar they take in, it costs the state 4.52. Federal government wants to shut the coal mines in West Virginia and what jobs did they bring in to replace them? West Virginia was a democrat state but not any more. The elitists up North think they are so much smarter and we are those dirty smelling Walmart people. That is why we are a cult because we don't listen to our betters. No its not the climate has been changing since the day this planet was formed. Core samples show that the poles were once lush fertile land before being covered an ice. What is a lying hoax is that we are causing climate change or can do anything about it on a planetary scale.
