The county and board of commissioners need to take a serious take at the tax incentives given to Tyson if they are going to decrease the local workforce by this big of a percentage.

Due to increasing demand, we are shifting production in our Wilkesboro, NC facility to support our Tyson fully cooked products. As a result of these process changes, fewer positions will be required in the facility.
And this was in the JP...
Total sales for rose 1.6% over the prior third quaerter to $13.35 billion. Tyson's adjusted operating margin expanded to 3.7%, up from 1.4% in the prior year period. "Our disciplined actions and focus on the fundamentals have resulted in a positive turnaround of our business," said Donnie King, president and CEO of Tyson Foods. "In Q3, we delivered the highest adjusted operating income in the last seven quarters while also generating strong free cash flow." https://www.journalpatriot....d97e3.html
Sales were up, and profits were up... because people are buying the more expensive fully cooked products.
This is a sign that people have a greater expendable income, which is the opposite of what Metal is implying in the OP.
I've said it many times, though... it's just a matter of time before Tyson relocates to a cheaper country. People just don't care enough to pay 5 times as much for food produced in the US.

WGHP has an article that says: A Tyson Foods Spokesperson released the following statement to FOX8: "Due to increasing demand, we are shifting production in our Wilkesboro, NC facility to support our Tyson fully cooked products. As a result of these process changes, fewer positions will be required in the facility. Our priority is to help team members impacted by this change, and we are working with them to offer other opportunities at Tyson Foods."

Unfortunately tyson owns every bit of chicken farms now.
Local growers are best. We done seen what happens when few own everything. Time to get back to diversifying them bonds, if you will.

Actually its the consumers fault, Tyson was and is still prepared for the loss of profits
Tyson's adjusted Q3 profit of 87 cents a share beat analyst estimates by 20 cents Tyson Foods Inc.'s stock was a rare positive amid a stock-market swoon Monday after the meat-production giant beat analyst estimates for its third-quarter profit and revenue and reversed a year-ago loss. Chief Executive Donnie King said the company's "disciplined actions and focus on the fundamentals have resulted in a positive turnaround of our business." Tyson (TSN) rose 1.9%, even as the S&P 500 SPX moved lower by about 2.9%. The stock had moved lower earlier in the session but reversed course and rose. Tyson swung to third-quarter net income of $191 million, or 54 cents a share, from a loss of $417 million, or $1.18 a share, in the year-ago quarter. Adjusted profit of 87 cents a share in the latest quarter beat the FactSet consensus estimate of 67 cents a share. Revenue climbed to $13.36 billion from $13.14 billion in the year-ago period, coming in ahead of the analyst estimate of $13.21 billion. Looking ahead, Tyson boosted the low end of its adjusted operating income (AOI) estimate for fiscal 20224 to $1.6 billion from $1.4 billion and kept the upper end at $1.8 billion. It reiterated its forecast for relatively flat sales for the year. Analysts expect Tyson to report 2024 revenue of $53.05 billion, up from $52.88 billion in fiscal 2023.
