Too late, Stoney and his cronies have already screwed us

I am a Republican and the Republican Party leader better get their head out of their breezers and FIND some viable, honest, trustworthy candidates or they are done. I would never as long as I have breath vote for a Marxist Democrat, but I will not vote for a corrupt Republican.

That is why I say, bankrupt those two and run them out of town. But, you better keep your eyes on those snakes between now and the next election.

We will be paying $10M in interest on that building besides the $22M price. Screwed big time. $495 a sq ft compared to $16 a sq ft.

Slow Bill and Slimy Casey are responsible

They are not good people

I would check the pockets of Johnson and Sexton as they exit building from now until we can vote them out of office. Keep monitors on their finances, monitor their social media accounts, and put their county properties in hold until 5 years after we vote them out. They intentionally broke the trust and cannot be trusted.

This is what happens when you put 3 fools in office. Stoney Greene and his two puppets got us into this mess. I have said all along it is the biggest blunder in this county's history. What do those two have to say about it now? Do they admit they were wrong? Johnson and Sexton should both resign.

We already gave Vannoy $1 million for drawing up blueprints, and even if we could back out now... which it doesn't look like we can... we'd still owe them $3 million more. Not one brick has been laid, and we're already $4 million deep!
Stoney was a mistake that we'll be paying for the rest of our lives...

Why did we vote for Casey Joe again? He and Bill Sexton were Greene's puppets, he helped put us in this mess, yet we still voted for him by a landslide.

It sounds fishy to me.

It was $1 million to draw up the plans, and I guess $3 million more for talking about them? I don't know what other work they could have done at this point.

Wilkes County Attorney Tony Triplett told county commissioners Tuesday that it's too late to pause or rescind plans they okayed in 2023 for building a new county office building at the intersection of Executive Drive and Courthouse Drive Extension in Wilkesboro.

...

... the biggest issues with canceling the project involve the bonds issued in November. Triplett noted that instead of a bank loan, the new building is funded with municipal bonds sold to investors "based on an official representation from us that they were secured by construction of a new county office building on property " with a deed of trust from the county.

Triplett said that although it's very unlikely Wilkes County government could get N.C. Local Government Commission approval for reversing this process, he learned from Lee that doing so would adversely impact the county's credit rating. It also would impact the tax exempt status of the bonds and could create liability issues for county government, Triplett added.

He said the county's 36-page construction contract with Vannoy allows termination of the contract at any time with a 30-day notice, but the county would have to pay Vannoy about $3 million for work it has done on the project.
