I guess you could say he died for his country, someone should have told him "The rockets' red glare and bombs bursting in air" didn't happen until 1814, he might have lived another 38 years.

I was surprised he was in Summerville and not Wilkes county.

What's with his wife saying "he was a Patriot"? I'd say it's more like natural selection thinning the herd, and I wonder if his last words were "hold my beer"?

A man has died after authorities say he sat a "large firework device" on his head and ignited it.

The Dorchester County Coroner's Office said the incident happened near Summerville on July 4 around 10:20 p.m. Coroner Paul Brouthers said the incident happened in the street on Cottonwood Drive in the Crestwood subdivision. Brouthers said the device exploded and caused "massive head injuries." The man was pronounced dead around 11 p.m.
