How many of the younger generation would be homeless if they didn't have their parents like dog butler to help.

Not Henry and not what was said at all.

Fred still struggles with facts no matter which name it uses.

You mean the Trump Depression? And subsequent hyper inflation that began in 2020?

The problem is that they had 40 years or more to save up, so they can't blame Trump for them not doing it.

You haven't given any sources, but I found that 19% of people over 65 are still working... an increase from 10% in 1980...

But it also says that about half of them are working out of boredom, not necessity. Once you take out the number of people that are working for fun, it's not statistically more than it was in 1980.

Your liberal friend just said they still have them at home Henry

Retirees probably dont have toddlers to save for, fred.

Anonymoose

Antithesis you know the government doesn't say what the inflation is really then it would cost them more money. Every raise comes another fee. Then there's the ones who say save most couldn't save for the cost of living and raising kids. And there was no way to save for the Biden inflation.

This report discusses how the problem is that they didn't save up for retirement, and now they're complaining that they don't have anything saved...

Lets bot get it wrong though, generations after boomers wont be able to retire due to the boomers draining everything away.

Your house should be paid off (still have insurance and taxes, which are a tiny portion in respects to a mortgage) by the time you retire and you have medicare. Housing and health insurance are obsolete when talking about costs to retirees.

Boomers just want all these handouts given to them for their whining.

I am 70 and still working, in part because it keeps my mind busy. But I also need the income since I needed to support our kids who can't (or don't think they can) support themselves.

Like I said before... Social Security COLA is proportionate to inflation, so unless they're renting then their percentage of expense to income should be exactly the same.

Retirement has been tough on many middle and working class folk for decades, and as long as a certain segment of our society can turn a blind eye to the plight of many of our seniors it will remain so. When a senior has to choose between paying the rent, paying for med's and buying groceries the problem will remain, and Puleeze none of the old bull crap about bootstraps and making provisions earlier in life. We have no way of knowing what the circumstances may have been for many of these seniors.

Retirement is increasingly becoming a luxury many American workers cannot afford. With rising housing costs and medical expenses and without the pensions that buoyed previous generations, millions of older Americans can't stop working. USA Today
