There's been no evidence that Himalayan salt is any better for you than table salt...

You may have a genetic tolerance to high sodium, but keep in mind that you can still have a heart attack or stroke without high blood pressure. High blood pressure is only one risk factor, not the only one.

I eat all the salt I want with NO affect on my blood pressure. The kidneys can't function correctly without enough salt. The problem is that white salt has been bleached , stripped of all its minerals, and an anti caking chemical added to it. Better quality salt is Himalayan pink salt or Celtic salt. Read a book called SaltYouur Way to Health .

Americans eat an average of 3,400mg of sodium a day, but the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend that adults have no more than 2,300mg a day...

That's actually based on a 2000 calorie diet, though. If you are a smaller person with a lower calorie diet, then your sodium intake should be less, too.

A 2022 study has found that "a reduction of 1 gram of daily salt intake would be enough to prevent 9 million cases of stroke and heart attack between now and 2030... With 4 million of those cases likely to be fatal, such a simple measure could save a lot of lives."
