Hey ht, your reference is an opinion piece disguised as news by the mouthpiece of the San Francisco of the East.

This amendment is necessary to proactively prevent local AND state entities from allowing non-citizens to vote in local AND state elections as has occurred in liberal leftist enclaves such as Washington D.C.

Oh, so it's voter suppression.

That's why Fakey likes it.

My bad everyone, the language is basically restating the current law BUT it seems to be designed to possibly discourage recent citizens from voting. Here's a pretty quick article explaining it.

So then why the amendment Flakey?

Fakey

Hey ht, YOU obviously fail to comprehend that a once someone successfully completes the naturalization process AND swears allegiance to our Constitution they may enjoy ALL of the benefits of citizenship.

BigSal

So Fakey the Troll doesnt want naturalized citizens to vote?

ht

Posted 10:16 am, 10/19/2024

Sorry for the typos- that should say "more joy in the world"

ht

Posted 10:15 am, 10/19/2024

Fakey, why do you have to call everyone who is different from you **** all the time?

It totally uses up any goodwill and makes me not want to even entertain responding to you because your words are so hateful. I hope that you are able to fi d more hot in the world instead of name calling constantly :)

Hillbilly, it makes it so that people who were not born in the US, regardless of if they have become naturalized citizens, cannot vote. It takes people's rights away, which is the design.

Fakey

This is a necessary proactive initiative to prevent local or state elections from the possibility of contamination.

Voted against.

The state constitution currently says:

Section 1. Who may vote.
Every person born in the United States and every person who has been naturalized, 18 years of age, and possessing the qualifications set out in this Article, shall be entitled to vote at any election by the people of the State, except as herein otherwise provided.

Why is this amendment needed?

YOU can call it whatever YOU want, so quit jerking the circle AND running away AND tell us IF YOU will be voting for this necessary amendment.

It's obvious big guvmint over regulation.

That's what you are embracing.

I'm not judging. But that's what it is.

Fakey

Only liberal leftist **** woulda be against this common sense amendment, so quit jerking the circle AND running away AND tell us IF YOU will be voting for this necessary amendment.

Conrad’s Ghost

Posted 9:52 am, 10/19/2024

This is an example of "government over regulation." Conservatives should be against this.

My, how things have changed.

Fakey

Posted 9:50 am, 10/19/2024

IF it was existing law there woulda be no need for an amendment.

Foisting another false allegation only makes YOU look stupider than YOU already project.

Quit jerking the circle AND running away AND tell us IF YOU will be voting for this necessary amendment.

BigSal

"They already can IF they are naturalized."

So then this wouldn't impact them...and that would be a legal vote...

When this Amendment passes will you still be whining about voter fraud, you know, like how the ID was supposed to be the "fix?"

Conrad’s Ghost

So...it's pretty much existing law.

You must love big guvmint, huh?

Fakey

f approved, the amended Constitution would read:

"Only a citizen of the United States who is 18 years of age and possessing the qualifications set out in this Article, shall be entitled to vote at any election by the people of the State."

In effect, the amendment would preemptively prevent North Carolina cities or the state legislature from passing a law allowing noncitizens to vote in local or state elections.
