So these aren't people planning to jump the border, they would be legal immigrants.

And they still don't want in under Trump's regime. They would rather stay in Mexico.

They can see what you can't.

Put it another way... they're smart enough to see the collapse of the nation. Why make such an effort to migrate from one failing country to another that's led by Satan?

From Trump's failed immigration policy in his first term, there's no question that they will be able to get in more easily in the near future. But why would they want to?

I can't think of any better metaphor than the frying-pan-to-the-fire.
