Yes,I know dear. Shakur became a great community activist.
I was told that he had to speak up about it.
This good man did just that. By using his God given talent.
To bring his message to the people.
Man we've been robbed by his music.
Rest easy Tupac, you are sorely missed.

& leave Pac & Biggie out of it. They were pure talent.

TuPac was Juliard trained, so his persona was all for show...

As for Biggie, I've read some of his lyrics and I don't know why people are impressed. He just talks... not sings... about being poor and getting rich...

This is not how streaming revenue and royalties work. There are lots of paper trails. Artists are represented by groups like EMI and ASCAP and generally they collect royalties and streaming revenue.

Sure, but that doesn't apply to the ones that are trying to launder money and get around the normal channels. Like 6ix9ine.

You're also assuming that the production companies aren't involved in the laundering... remember that Snoop and Dre founded Death Row Records, giving them the ability to do just that.

Speaking of 6ix9ine, another industry comes to mind that's just perfect for laundering... "influencers."

Take Charli D'Amelio as an example... daughter of a Senator and a former model that somehow became "the most followed creator on TikTok" in less than 10 months... most of which appeared to be fake bots. And somehow turned that into an income of $23 million in 2023. Riiiight...

I have known a lot of musicians and none of them made much money, even the named ones.

And that's challenge I'll take from any of you. Tell me three songs or artists you like and I'll find a modern song you'll like.

I'm sure there are artists who are laundering money but to act as if that's somehow indicative of the entire music industry is crazy. A club, venue or promotion business would make way more sense for laundering money. You think music is worse now because of the commodification and consolidation of the music industry. There's more great artists than ever but they make music in addition to their day jobs or they're making a modest living touring and selling merch or using crowd funding platforms like Patreon. It's incredibly difficult to break into the mainstream without tons of money backing you up or you're just the right kind of combo of talent/charisma/attractiveness to get major label attention. If you gave me three songs or artists you like I'll find a modern song you would like. You just don't know about it because it doesn't come on the radio.

"Awhile back, it also hit me that the modern music industry is ideal for laundering, too. An artist can just SAY that a million people downloaded his song for $1, and there would be no way to track it!"

This is not how streaming revenue and royalties work. There are lots of paper trails. Artists are represented by groups like EMI and ASCAP and generally they collect royalties and streaming revenue.

These righties get really upset when you talk about illegal drug activity in Wilkes.

Posted 8:39 am, 07/25/2024

I always did wonder how these "artists " got mega rich in such short of time. I never thought about it just being a drug money laundering operation. FBI probably lost all the tapes it's hard for the FBI to investigate the CIA.

You're absolutely right. And similarly, when China and Russia rented entire floors from Trump Towers for millions of dollars, but never used them... but I think we're getting a little off topic, don't you?

Anonymoose

Can't do anything with people like the Biden's whose son can paint with crayons and sale the "artwork " for $100 k . Then there Joes brother who buys island land near Jeffrey's on the cheap then sales for good profit keeping some land for himself. I know none of the money came from democrat donors because Joe said it didn't.

And the Trump business. But I agree.

Art is a really big one, mainly used for tax fraud though. You buy a painting for $100, have it appraised for $100,000, then sell it for $100... you now claim a $99,900 loss on your taxes.

Real estate is a big one, too, which we can see in Wilkes. Look at all of the rural property that's owned by shell companies that just keep selling it to one another for big numbers, followed by big (made up) losses. They make out great, but then it raises property values o that everyone else pays higher taxes for it.

It's all happening right in front of us, but no one says a thing...
