"Only thing I don't like about the whooper is the price. Thanks Joe."

I was in the grocery store today and noticed the ridiculous price of butter. A pound of butter costs as much now as a pound of sirloin steak did before Biden&Harris took over. Thanks, Joe.

Anti is a whooper hater, which is fine.

I used to eat them all the time when I was in college! But at one point I learned that the low quality ingredients in soda and fast food makes it physically addictive. The refined carbs and fats in it trigger a release of dopamine in the brain, similar to that of alcohol and nicotine.

This is just one of the interesting studies...

Once you stay off of it for awhile and then try it again, you'll see just how gross it really is!

The wife recently commented, "You know alcohol and white flour will greatly reduce your longevity".

Two points of interest there...

Your body can't actually tell white flour from sugar! So when you eat white flour, you could be eating the same quantity in sugar and it would have the same impact on your body.

But beer, in moderation, is much healthier for you than soda! It includes protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, and Brewer's yeast, all of which are good for your digestion. And since the yeast eats the sugar to make alcohol, they have no actual sugar in them.

It's ironic, really, that people here drink so much soda yet complain about beer. If they were to simply replace every ounce of soda in their diet with an equal amount of beer, they would be healthier.

Replacing any drink with water would be best, of course... I just think it's interesting that beer is considerably better for you than soda.

I replied, "And yet, here I am".

I've counted calories all my adult life. I do eat whoopers few times a year. I can eat alot of food because I work out alot. I pushed mow the yard yesterday and carried dirt to fill some holes. I don't sit on my arse like most on here. I weigh 122 pounds at 5 ft 5 inches. Anti is a whooper hater, which is fine. Only thing I don't like about the whooper is the price. Thanks Joe.

Following the train of thought on the Coke...

Don't get misled by thinking you can drink Diet Coke and it's OK! Diet drinks have synthetic sugars in them, and while they show no calories in paper they still cause the same insulin spike that sugar causes. But when there's no sugar there for the insulin to digest, that insulin turns directly into fat.

Worse, the Diet Coke has more sodium in it than the regular Coke.

Do you know how many calories you should really be eating in a day? Most people don't... but this is a handy calculator to give you an idea...

At my age and height, the calculator shows that I need 1,869 calories per day to maintain my currently healthy weight. This is pretty accurate.

But a big issue that people have is... sugar!! People drink sooo much sugar and don't even think about it! The maximum sugar calories should be 10% of your diet... so at 1869 calories, my maximum in a day should be 187 calories from sugar... or 47 grams.

Putting this in perspective, a Whopper with cheese has 740 calories and 11 grams of sugar, and a medium order of fries has 380 calories and 1 gram of sugar.

Add a large Coke to that... 390 calories and 105 grams of sugar

Throw in 3 or 4 packs of ketchup... those are 10 calories each and 2 grams of sugar.

That comes to 1,550 calories, and 125 grams of sugar. Just in the one meal! That's pretty much it for the day, I only have about 300 calories left.

But if you're a bit older, don't forget about sodium! Generally, ever how many calories you can have in a day, you can have that many milligrams of sodium in a day. Unless you have a heart problem or something.

The Whopper has 1340mg of sodium, the fries have 360, the 4 packs of ketchup have 500, and the soda has 85. So that's 2285mg... way over my allowance of 1869mg!

So while I do have 300 calories left over for the day, what I eat needs to have NO sodium at all. Which is next to impossible.
