That's a good point Dog B. We are making large meals and eating them over two days. I can't see wasting food when so many people are going hungry.

The USA spends less on food in proportion to average income than ANY country in the world and wastes more food than ANY country in the world. Think about it!

Food Waste in America: A Daily Bite Out of Resources
On average, each American throws away around a pound of food every day. This might sound like a small amount, but it adds up to a staggering amount of waste when you consider the entire population.
It's important to note that this is an average, and individual habits vary greatly. Many factors contribute to food waste, including:
* Portion sizes: Overbuying and cooking too much food.
* Expiration dates: Misunderstanding "best by" and "use by" labels.
* Planning: Lack of meal planning and organization.

You can whine all you want about inflation, but it's been going on since forever and will continue to do so, sometimes to a lesser and sometimes to a greater degree. But when a bunch of sorry losers try to put the blame for GLOBAL inflation on one individual then credulity is being stretched to its utter limit!

Hey starfart, do YOU feel skin color shoulda be a determinate for receiving government handouts?

Sounds to me like trump cult members are asking for handouts from the government.

The shoe fits.

Those boots are much heavier compared to when we was putting them on. I paid $80,000 for a 3 bedroom two bath house. It would cost $300,000 now.

This economy is bad for the losers. I'm doing fine because I plan ahead. Interest rates are great for some. You can tell the Trumpers don't think, their voting for orange glow.

All these Republicans crying in their beer over people being financially distressed. What happened to the good old right wing advice to those in want? "Pull yourself by your own bootstraps!"

My friend works from home, losing her job. Has two homes one at the beach. Just stayed a week at the beach house, nice. Some live about their means for sure. Anyone can lose a job. You can go from having it all to homeless fast.

interesting fact

Posted 11:18 am, 08/05/2024

People cannot afford everyday expenses today. A friend in another county had their home tax appraisal go up $600,000. Insurance prices has gone up 26%. Food prices are ridiculous. People are paying for food with credit cards and interest rates are so high, it is just a matter of time before families will be bankrupt and homeless. This is due to the reckless spending of the democrats. There is no such thing as free. Someone pays. And it is certainly not the ones receiving free health care and free housing.

@consul. I am certain you are living easy considering you lived most of your life and bought your house at 20 cents on the dollar compared to today's prices. Young people living in this economy and paying these prices will never have that luxury.

Blaming the government for folks decisions is so communist of you.

@Acumen. I agree. But living above their means is what has kept the economy growing. That's over now. No more money or credit. Now we get the downturn.

We don't have credit cards, we're both retired and on fixed incomes and we've never received an inheritance or any other kind of windfall. Yet my wife and I are getting by, despite the economic train wreck that Trump left Seepy Joe to fix. All things considered Joe didn't do such a bad job, despite the deliberate partisan sabotage on part of the Republicans. Patriotic Americans, my fine white arse!

People have maxed their cards because they are living above their means.

Everyone knows that most Americans have been struggling to pay for basic necessities since Biden caused rapid inflation. That's not even debatable at this point. But now people have maxed those credit cards as well as being out of cash. The economy is crashing. We all saw it coming but some chose to ignore it. I've got my stockpile. I hope you do.
