CHARLOTTE - A 34-year-old man was charged with kidnapping after police said he grabbed a woman's 9-month-old baby late Wednesday night and started to run through Uptown.

Sometime after a Charlotte FC match, witnesses said Edgar Segura-Jimenez walked up to a group of people on South Tryon Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

He **** up the baby at about 12:30 a.m. and tried to get away but strangers intervened and stopped him before he got too far, witnesses said.

Multi-county porch pirate operation found through package theft arrests, officials say

Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a Honda Civic on Thursday in Lexington, North Carolina. Officers identified individuals involved in the theft of Fed Ex packages, specifically AT&T cell phones. The thefts would occur shortly after the packages were delivered to multiple residence's in Davidson County.

The three individuals arrested are:

Paula Andrea Celis Varela, 36

Jesus Abel Aponte, 21

Franco Rivera Jeffrey, 32

Officers from Union County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Investigation Bureau and the Sheriff's Alcohol Field Enforcement held a traffic stop and identified the two people in the car as 29-year-old Renee Rubio and 44-year-old Joanne Ortega, both California residents.
