The ad that you're referring to, the occasional full screen ad, sounds like the old "vignette" ad. It was set to show up after every 10 pages. I removed it a few weeks ago.

What you described about it repeating on the same page, though, makes me worry that you were seeing something else, or possibly had something running in the background that made the system unable to see that you had already seen it. Your ad blocker was possibly blocking third-party cookies (which are harmless, but low quality security software blocks them to make it sound like their program is more important than it really is).

If you're still seeing it now, though, then you may have a spyware infection that's showing ads that have nothing to do with us. That would be a much bigger concern!

The only ads on here now are:

1) a "sticky" banner at the top and bottom of every page

2) If you're on desktop then you'll see two banners on the right column. If you're on mobile or a low resolution screen then those side ads are hidden and instead you'll see a horizontal ad at the top.

I hate to say it, but after 2017 ad revenue is less than 20% of what it was before! Mobile is a big part of the problem (mobile ads pay a fraction of what desktop ads pay), but ad blockers are also a significant problem. I have to pay my bills just like everyone else, and the only way I can do that is by showing ads. I wish it could be different, but until mobile ads go up in value I'm afraid that blocking ad blockers is the only real option.

This thread was created yesterday and flagged, but I just now saw it and approved it. Sorry about that.

i disabled my ad blocker way back for this site, and honestly it was only because i got tired of clicking the x on the window that would ask me to disable the ad blocker every time i went to a new page on the site. im just being honest, and anyone that says they disabled ad block because they wanted to help out the site owner are little fibbers.

fast forward to recently, i realized that the ads had got so bad, that going back to the 'disable ad block' pop up on every new page or page refresh, was a breath of fresh air. i cant believe it took this long to realize that. up until enabling ad block it was constant, click the x on the ad at the bottom. click the x on the ad at the top. 30 seconds later try not to fall for the fake x that the ad puts to try and trick you. and repeat it never stopped even if you stayed on the same page.

i reckon im telling this to see what others thought and to let dude know that the menacing ads are going to have the opposite effect if most peoples ad experiences are similar to mine. or i reckon you could just make the "please disable ad block" pop up more annoying than the ads. i guess would be a option too but either way i figured i would attempt to initiate a conversation on the topic.
