freddy, once again you aren't making sense, or are you just trying to distract?

Mega farms will be all that's left one day and the government will tell you what to eat.

Ant most of the 272,000 jobs created were government jobs, tell the whole story when you tell it.

What are the mega-farmers doing? You know, the ones that bought out the little farmers then put managers in to run huge tracts that once consisted of many small farms. Wall street wizards that have never plowed a furrow, milked a cow or slopped the hogs. These mega-farms can produce milk, root vegetables and cereal products much cheaper than the small farmer ever could. How is it that the increase in food prices rise steadily almost in synch with the pace of the billionaires buying out the small farmers?

Farming is to expensive to start with , if your family isn't already into it there's basically no way to start. Let's take a chicken farm of four houses easily one million for just the houses then all the equipment and land. Then you get to work seven days a week and your business could close down tomorrow.

The USA has more EASILY ACCESSIBLE natural resources than any other nation in the world. It also has enough arable land that would not only enable our agricultural/horticultural industry feed ourselves but a large portion of the rest of the world. And yet we have dire poverty and widespread homelessness and elderly citizens that have to choose between paying the rent, buying groceries or paying for medical prescriptions. Why are we sending jobs abroad and why are we importing goods that are easily available within our own borders?

They forgot to subtract the jobs lost from that figure. The real story would be negative jobs gained.

I'm sure that's all true, but the US added 272,000 jobs in May 2024.

We won't see the June report for a few weeks, of course.

Be honest, do you actually know anyone that's unemployed and unsuccessfully looking for work?

And then in North Carolina, Novant Health and Walmart laying off employees. Fox Business reporting layoffs skyrocketing in 2024. Report further stated layoffs surged 98 percent in 2023. Three days ago Business Insider reported layoffs sweeping the US. CNBC reported mass tech layoffs. I said it before the numbers don't add up but keep believing those jobs reports and we are rebuilding the economy from the bottom up.

Fred... you know that we have a near record unemployment, and a surplus of about 8 million jobs.

Why do you imagine that these companies want to be here when they can't find employees? When they can go to another country and find plenty of workers that are willing to work for a fraction of the cost?

And finally, what do you imagine that the President can do to change it? I know that the GOP's go-to move is "tariffs," but as we saw with Trump's tariff war with China, all that does is result in higher prices for us and the manufacturer couldn't care less. So knowing that tariffs don't work, what other idea do you have?

And Kamala went to Mexico at the start to move jobs there , factories have closed in NC since to move.

Things have not worked out quite as the 42nd president hoped. Normalizing trade with China set our rival on a path to becoming the industrial powerhouse the world knows today, decimating American factory towns in the process and upending old assumptions about how trade effects the economy. Thanks to a growing body of academic research, we're only just now beginning to understand the extent of the economic fallout, as well as the degree to which it has helped poison our politics.

I used Nixon as a point of reference, you used Clinton to fix blame. I don't know how old you are, but I saw my job along with millions of others go sailing off to far shores. Not only were our jobs taken away, but the manufacturers got tax breaks to offset their moving costs. To put the icing on the cake the working class got a triple whammy. Not only did they allow for our jobs to be taken away, but they used our tax dollars to compensate the manufacturers. And they got around it by blaming the unions.

Where I was living at that time the number of jobs exceeded the size of the employment pool. Construction was booming the cost of living was allowing people to buy (Ford Mustang $1799.00) cars, new homes and many luxuries besides. Construction workers were earning from $17.00 to $20.00 an hour depending on their trade.

John Deere built their first factory in Mexico in 1956, and has 17 locations in Mexico, Central America, and South America.

I know this will surprise you, but... Biden was not the President in 1956.

And according to John Deere, the reason for the move is "reduced demand for John Deere's products from those factories." They also cited the fact that Americans want too much money, and there aren't enough people looking for a job.

freddy, why don't you get over your obsession with the Clinton's? We're talking about a problem that's here and now, keep your lies and accusations about past presidents etc. for your local repub. gatherings.

Clinton moved more jobs overseas than anyone, so much Hillary distanced herself from his policies.

Simple solution: "If you take it out of the country and make it somewhere else, phuggin well sell it somewhere else! If we ban the goods that are made by previously USA located manufacturers how are their Ceo's and all the other little O's gonna get their obscene salaries. And the shareholders (I know we have some on this site) are gonna be squealing like stuck pigs. Does Sleepy Joe have the moxy to place a ban on the offshore pirates? Trump doesn't care he's already got us sold to Russia, he's just hoping to get in again and make it official.

This offshore crap all started with Nixon's de tente cordiale with China, time to bring it to a grinding halt. The USA is the biggest consumer market in the world and that's as powerful weapon you can hold in any trade war or negotiation.

Biden just bragged about how great he is for manufacturing. He said smurfinbustinmumblinjervin, or something like that.
