Near the end of my yard working episode a neighbor stopped by and said he saw a big snake recently that he thought was a rattler. I don't know what to make of this because in 20 years here I've never seen even a copperhead. Although a farmer about 2 miles away as the crow flies posted a photo on fakebook of a huge one he killed getting up hay. His post was a couple of years ago.

The good thing about Ashe County is that it is hardly ever too hot to work outside. I just did a couple hours of yard work in the open sun and didn't really work up a good sweat. I'm now enjoying cold beer with bread & butter pickles. My latest bad habits. The outside thermometer is reading 84 now.
