The irony is thick in this thread. Trumpsters want to complain about big government and decry "Communism," while the whole time they've been aggressively demanding... big government and Fascism!
It's almost as if they have no idea what they're talking about...

Use the resources that the Government already has, Police and Jail for shoplifters
Let's talk about the actual problem, which has nothing to do with shoplifting. The problem is that places like Save a Lot get big subsidies ($13.5 million from Chicago last year) to open stores, then they just don't do it.
Read that again... people could steal food all day long and never pay for a single thing, and they would still make money!
The goal, of course, is to fleece the city. They've already invested $13.5 million, so at the end of the year when the stores aren't open they'll be pushed to invest another $13.5 million... or just let it go and lose the first round of subsidies.
And we know this to be true, because the same thing happens here all the time. And will almost definitely happen with the new county building.
What do you expect the city to do? Wait a year, let people starve to death, and then invest another $13.5 million in 10 months? Or just take that same money to build their own stores now without the scamming?
If there were no grocery stores in Wilkes... not even dollar stores... and you had to drive to Winston or Hickory to get food, would you be arguing that the county should do something about it?
Or is this another case of "different rules for black people?"
