We have to run a couple strands of electric fence wire around our corn when it gets almost ready to harvest or the racoons end up getting the biggest part of it.

Gandydancer, I have done that in years past when we planted large corn patches. DB, The racoons are my biggest problem when the corn is ready to pull. A string pulled over the corn will usually keep the crows out and that stopped them this time until the stalks were about a foot tall. Something pulled up about a dozen stalks.

Crows pulling up the corn and then musk rats eating it off the stalk. Been there and done that.

My folks used to put their corn seeds in kerosene right before planting. Crows wouldn't messs with it ?

How is your garden coming along? My battle with the weeds is a constant thing and the crows are pulling up my corn. At this stage I am harvesting and eating potatoes, lettuce, onions, mustard greens and broccoli. The green beans, squash, corn, beets, cucumbers, cabbage and tomatoes are doing just fine. I hope to have my first ripe tomatoes around the last of June. If all goes well, I will have extra to share with those who are unable to grow their own.
