You can go to Samaritans at the old telephone building on 421 on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. Please don't be embarrassed go get food for you and your husband. Ronda Fire department has been doing a food give away once a month also.

Summer, like has already been said, look into lunch programs. Meals On Wheels, etc. many groups in the area do hot meals for the elderly. Just don't reheat the meal in the plastic container in the microwave, please.

The OP said "food bank" so anti is still lyin' by omission. And every other method. You gave bad advice, and don't want to admit it. I did a 3 minute research and found information that was useful. But you keep shooting that messenger anti! Just like baldwin.

Summerday, you need to get hooked up with the lunch program where you go to a certain area depending on where you live five days a week an eat a hot meal. I know Temple Hill community center does it an also Union Baptist Church in eastern wilkes does also. That way you could at least have one hot meal a day. you only have to be 60 or older to enjoy this. They also deliver to shutins.

I would talk to friends and neighbors and see if they know any hunters that would give you some meat since some hunters don't really hunt for the meat but for trophy's. When I hunted regularly I would some times donate deer meat to the food bank in Boone so I'm sure other do it else where.

Do you have any land if so hunters are always looking for a place to hunt and you could trade meat for letting them hunt your property. Have you ever thought about fishing you could go together and maybe catch some food. I would also look into planting some veggies if your not able to plant a full on garden think about pots around the house.

Considering that there's not a food bank in Wilkes, I think Summer is talking about food pantries

Everything doesn't have to be a fight. You know, it's real easy to reply to a thread without attacking people and trolling...

Summer, here's a list of all of the pantries in Wilkes...

And anti still lying! Many food banks require proof that you are actually in need the first time you come in, and then only let you come in once a session. Many food banks are not funded based on numbers served, but on whatever funds they can scratch and dig and beg for.

It's not a problem, Summer, a lot of people drive around to ALL of them! And then, sadly, a lot of them try to sell it to people But there's no record anywhere, so you can go to multiple ones without a problem.

They really don't even care... they get funding based on how many people they give to, so the more the merrier for them.

If wondering about something I've heard some people asking. The same question. If they are getting help with food at a certain food bank can they go to another one in the same county? I am a senior and me and my husband are both on a limited income. I'm ashamed to admit it but we are like so many others here in the county dealing with not having enough food . Now I don't mean getting steaks, anything elaborate like that. Lord I couldn't tell how long it's been since I've had one, but that not the issue. The food banks are helping people with as much food as they can and sometimes when I go We maybe can get a couple meals out of it. I'm eternally grateful with what we can get. But was just wondering if a person could go to more than one in the same month. Please no smart remarks. We are like so many. We need help. God Bless
