Are there any democrats running? Seems like the GOP cannot learn after their last mistake. I think the county could be for a change. I certainly am.

It's time the republicans realize that this county is not theirs no matter what. The elite appoint people to vacancies that they did not run for and had no interest in the position. Why not chose a person that had filed and lost for the seat. Spending money unwisely. They could have bought the mall in the 90'[s for a location for the courthouse and all the other buildings BUT no, the Call property was already for the picking...Outer space could have been sold to business people such as attorneys and possible paid for the cost. The apple co-op building was in foreclosure and the school board was needing a building. I went to Faye Byrd, Gene Jones and told them of such. Their reason for not buying was "we need more access and space and Hwy. 16". What more could they have asked for even with storage to rent. They come down to the school bus garage and construct a building with limited space and rent space from the garage to park.

I am afraid this is another mistake. What is wrong with the GOP leaders? You need someone with experience. What qualifications does this young man have?
His grandfather was also a commissioner and another disappointment to the county.

I think Rodney Caudill is the same guy that ran against Stoney in 2022, too. He came in with about 300 fewer votes than Ralph Broyhill.
Sharron Huffman and Joan Caudill were both on the School Board, too.
They skipped over 3 people that had been elected in the past, and 2 people that did OK in the 2022 election, to choose a young guy with no experience.
Maybe he's related to somebody important?

Anyone know anything about the guy they picked to replace Stoney Greene?
The other candidates considered were Junior Ayers, Ralph Broyhill, Joan Caudill, Rodney Caudill, Seth Cohn, Sharron Huffman and Mike Inscore.
I know that Ralph Broyhill ran against Stoney in 2022, and had 2,411 votes against Stoney's 3,966. He came in 5th, but they were all close... 3rd place was 2,442, 4th was 2,433, and Ralph was 2,411.
And Mike Inscore was the mayor of Wilkesboro, who chose not to run in the last election.
It's odd to see them pick a 30 year old kid with no experience over the other candidates...
