Move to Europe unfried then you'll really have something to whine about.
Almost all European auto's are diesel and get better fuel mileage. Also European fuel has more octane which helps also. Along with public transportation .

Looks like $4.31....when Bush Jr was president....not inflation adjusted though, so not sure how it would compare out.
