A Wilkes County man is accused of killing his wife and is being charged with murder, according to the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office.

At around 7:33 a.m. on Saturday, Wilkes County deputies and the Elkin Police Department came to the 100 block of Hilltop Circle in Ronda after getting a report of a man knocking on doors in the area.

At the scene, investigators found David Andrew Cheek, 42, of Ronda, talking about his wife being dead.

Investigators say they found his wife, Leslie Marie Cheek, 44, of Ronda, dead in Little Elkin Creek behind Hilltop Circle.

David Cheek has been arrested and is being charged with murder in connection to his wife's death. He is being held in the county jail under no bond.

The homicide is being investigated by the sheriff's office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations.
