As usual, Acumen has no clue.
Several individuals are taking parts of the facility. Can you do math? The facility was offered to the county for $7M . They , including the criminal as chairman, voted to spend $22M plus another $10M in interest for the new building. Plus, they still need another building the same size as the one they are building. So that would be at least another $22M without the interest. And they were talking about remodeling the old office building to bring it up to standards for handicapped accessible requirements. How much will that cost. For $7M , they would have had 450,000 sq ft and they could have put all 3 departments into one building and still had 50 % left to lease.
And as it was reported the building being built across from Walmart is costing $160 a sq ft. Why is County paying like $495 a sq ft for their building?

Cam Finley has the option to buy the old Lowes building, and is mad because he was only buying it to flip it to the county for a multi million dollar profit.
It's all pretense to claim that the county would miraculously save $12 million...
You know what would save us $20 million? Don't build the stupid new vanity piece at all, and instead do some repairs to the existing one. I bet you could do a lot of repairs for $2 million, and we would STILL save a ton of money!

They better be caring because they will be paying for more buildings with huge costs instead of getting a huge facility for a very low price. Their stupidity is just unbelievable.

People should not vote for commissioners. They are all just clueless. Why can't we get some qualified people? It is really a joke. No wonder people are no longer supporting this county.

Greene tried to pull a fast one with that appraisal to help justify his position, typical lying politician. Greene was dumb enough to open his big ignorant mouth and tell a few individuals that he would be getting under that table kickbacks from Vannoy Construction and Martin Roofing for the contracts on the new county office building, so now his continued push for the new county office building should be clear, its all about him and his pocket and not the citizens/taxpayers of Wilkes. Bill Sexton is too dumb to form his own opinion if its anything other than EMS concerns/issues, and Johnson's response is comical at best, I expected more from him. Greene is mad that if they stop the new county office building and cancel the bonds he won't get "his cut" and is jealous and angry that Mr. Finley might make a $. When you compare Greene's and Mr. Finley's business records and successes, I know who I am going to believe in to make the correct decisions and get the most value for each taxpayer $ spent.

interesting fact, these 3 questions should be solely directed to and answered by Casey Johnson,Bill Sexton, and the disgraced former commissioner Stoney Greene as it was their 3 votes to the 2 votes of Keith Elmore and Greg Minton that moved this construction of the new county office building forward without even a feasible study on the Lowe's property that Mr. Finley referenced. Wilkes will have to build another building to house other county departments when the Lowe's property could house them all in one location, therefore the numbers put out there by ex commissioner Greene don't add up at all or make any relevant sense. Mr. Finley is a highly successful businessman/entrepreneur with a proven track record of success, whereas Mr. Greene is a miserable failure as a businessman/entrepreneur, with every business he has touched has failed and he can't manage his own businesses and personal finances without getting bailed out by his mom. The taxpayers/citizens of Wilkes, democrat,republican, or independent deserve and are entitled to the answers to these logical and relevant questions posed by Mr. Finley.

One question that was answered by the current chairman in the newspaper is astoundingly stupid. Finley asked why was the study not done. It was reported by the former Chairman of the commissioners in the newspaper JAN 31, 2024 that an agreement by the commissioners had been made and they would have a company is Asheville do the study. Now this has been 8 1/2 months since their announcement about their agreeing to the study. Why have they not done it? He replied that it is because they had a hurricane in Asheville. What?
