Commissioners

Grrr,
"Handys grandfather was a commissioner, so the GOB club is can keep on rolling."

Robert Handy served 4 years as a county commissioner and chairman of the board from 1996 to 2000, he passed away 8 years ago...that is some impressive GOB stuff going on right there. Bless your heart.

Handys grandfather was a commissioner, so the GOB club is can keep on rolling.

Local leadership in a rural county is about effectively managing the tax base to increase said base, attract new business, and protect the public. That's it. So, which of those two candidates running for the empty seat can do that?

The board that we will soon have in place looks to be an all time awful mess. I don't know either of the men running for the open seat, but unless the one that wins is a political savant, this really could be the worst collection of commissioners in our county's history.

I agree with that post completely. Same goes for all offices, pick the BEST candidate to represent you regardless of family name, color of skin or how long they have been involved in politics. (both parties)

There is no way a Democrat can win. I am not stupid. But citizens in Wilkes County better be finding some better candidates for commissioners before these fools cause the county to go broke.

We've had some really dumb commissioners in Ashe. But we got rid of the worst one. It was a she, by the way.

Old lady,
If you think Hill is the more qualified candidate I'm glad you voted your conscience...in a few days, I will happily cancel your vote for Hill by voting for Handy.

I would suggest that all republicans refuse to even vote for these worthless individuals. They are raising your taxes for a building that was not needed and paid 3 times more than they should for that one building. And they also have plans for remodeling and another building.

Albert, you are misquoting what I said in the first post. I said I am a Republican and voted for a democrat that I do not even know because he would have to be better than what we have now. The 2 good current ones are not running and the 3 remaining are worthless.

Old lady,
If you think Hill is the more qualified candidate I'm glad you voted your conscience, However your 1st post does not mention any of that it states that voted against Handy because of prior actions by previous board members.

Is that Old Lady Cheney?

Albert, you said " don't you realize." That is assuming, isn't it? I know him. I know his family .

I know Handy and he has not been successful in some groups where he has worked. We need experienced business men that have been successful in their careers. We certainly need a change in commissioners and not one that has had issues already.

When you vote in losers, what else do you expect for this county? And I am not calling Handy a loser. That is the other 3. Handy is too young and immature, and not experienced. And the other 3 are just ridiculous. And I am not talking about Kennedy either.

Old lady,
By the way, I didn't assume anything, I asked you a question which you answered in a most snarky manner.

Old lady,
"I have never heard of him but he would have to be better than what we have now."

You said this, so it sounds like you're holding actions by prior or current commissioners against Handy even though Handy has never been a member of the Board.

Do you actually think that I do not know that Republican that has not held a public office? Don't assume Something when you do not know better.

Moosey loves commissioners who don't accomplish anything. Like Moosey!

Old lady,
You do realize that the Republican you voted against has never held public office before, so he can not be blamed for anything former or present members of the County Commissioners have done.

We can only hope Wilkes County turns into a democrat stronghold. McDonald's will need to install bulletproof glass, small price to pay for progress.

As a life long Republican, I voted this morning. And I am proud to say that I voted for only 1 commissioner, and it was a Democrat. I have never heard of him but he would have to be better than what we have now.
