This is trickle down economics just like any other presidents trickle down policy. It's just liberals doing it this time so you must back it up.

The $53,000,000,000 Chips act includes $39,000,000,000 in tax credits for wealthy tech companies to build manufacturing facilities in the US

Not exactly.

The credit, under Sec. 48D, equals 25% of qualified investment in new buildings, facilities, and other depreciable tangible property integral to the operation of a facility to manufacture semiconductors or semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Because taxpayers may elect to be treated as making payments against tax equal to the credit amount, the credit is in effect refundable.

This is a little different from billionaires that pay no income taxes at all... your Zuckerbergs, Musks, Bezoses, and Bloombergs. But I agree that it's a complete reversal of Biden's statements against corporate tax credits, which is nothing short of hypocritical.

It's interesting, though... the original bill doesn't say anything about a tax credit, but the final one does. And I can't find an Amendment that was proposed anywhere along the way that included it, so I don't know where it came from! Weird.

Hook, line and sinker. The $53,000,000,000 Chips act includes $39,000,000,000 in tax credits for wealthy tech companies to build manufacturing facilities in the US. So it looks like liberals are in favor in tax cuts for corporations. I will take a bow now.

Also there was only a net gain of 12,000 manufacturing jobs in 2023 with more expected to come from the tax breaks for the wealthy, according to Politico.

Poor old tribune he needs phycological help because he doesn't slaver over an orange mutant. Trump's just a lying, bullying, cowardly rapist. Old tribune must be in need of help if he perceives such a paragon of virtue as despicable, disgusting and utterly void of any decent humanity.

So you think that tribune is wrong, and that $231 billion is NOT greater than $53 billion?

Agree Antithesis, Tribune has a severe case of TDS

Add to that, as of March 27, 2024 over $100 billion has been invested by private companies into the CHIPS and Science Act. That's in addition to the $53 billion from the government, and that has created 25,400 jobs... not the 12,000 that the OP would have you believe.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that + $231 billion is a whole lot better than - $8.7 trillion. Maybe when Mexico pays for the wall that'll make up the difference?

August 9, 2023...

One year ago, President Biden signed into law the CHIPS and Science Act (CHIPS), which makes a nearly $53 billion investment in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, research and development, and workforce. The law also creates a 25 percent tax credit for capital investments in semiconductor manufacturing, and is helping to keep America at the forefront of innovation and technological development. Semiconductors were invented in the United States, but today we produce only about 10 percent of global supply-and none of the most advanced chips. Similarly, investments in research and development have fallen to less than 1 percent of GDP from 2 percent in the mid-1960s at the peak of the space race. The CHIPS and Science Act aims to change this by driving American competitiveness, making American supply chains more resilient, and supporting our national security and access to key technologies.

In the one year since CHIPS was signed into law, companies have announced over $166 billion in manufacturing in semiconductors and electronics, and at least 50 community colleges in 19 states have announced new or expanded programming to help American workers access good-paying jobs in the semiconductor industry. In total, since the beginning of the Biden-Harris Administration, companies have announced over $231 billion in commitments in semiconductor and electronics investments in the United States.

I know this is complicated, but... $231 billion is greater than $53 billion...

tribune, all the low level gullibles need is to be told that its better, and magically their tune changes.

Happened in 2016 with job reports even before inauguration.

What the two previous contributors don't understand, is whatever the problems are with this country right now are not going to be solved by Trump and his MAGATS. Putting Trump in the White House again would be akin to trying to extinguish a fire by dousing it with gasoline.

Trump is for Trump and only Trump, to the absolute exclusion of anyone or anything does not provide what TRUMP wants. What his devoted MAGATS are unable recognize is that he's laughing at them just like he has at so many he's duped in the past.

new manufacturing jobs in 2023. What Democrats don't seem to understand is that people are broke under their unbearable inflation economy. They can create all of the fake numbers and data they want. But if people don't have disposable income then the lies don't matter.
