I was pretty young when I realized that racism is just a crutch for people that have such low self esteem that they honestly believe that they have nothing to contribute to the world... nothing. But they have to believe that there's at least one thing that makes them valuable, and so a lot of them turn to... race.
These are the people that think that their race alone is something to be proud of. Not anything they've chosen or accomplished in life, because they don't have that... all they have is their race.
So by God they cling to it like a life preserver, no matter what.
To answer your question, I'm not colorblind, exactly... I just don't care.

Yet another made up holiday, similar to Kwanza, to pander to Blacks AND nuffin' more. In the sense that all holidays are made up, I guess?
Unlike many other holidays, though, we know that Major General Grander of Texas ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865. So this isn't "made up," it's celebrating a real anniversary of a real thing.
This holiday has been celebrated since 1866 and is considered "the longest-running African-American holiday."... it was just not federally recognized until recently.
Why the people chose June 19 instead of September 22, I don't know. But I guess I could similarly ask why the people chose to celebrate our Independence on July 4 instead of September 3, when the American Revolutionary War ended.
