This is from 2022, but it's still accurate enough to understand the problem...
The average income in the United States is $74,500.
Excluding the Top 10 Americans, though, it's only $65,000.
Excluding the Top 50, it drops to $48,000.
Excluding the Top 1000, it drops to $35,500.
Inflation adjusted, though, the Real Median Household Income in the US is at a record high!
This inflation-adjusted chart goes from 1974 to Q3 2023, but you can see that (even after inflation) our personal incomes are at a record high.
