Kamala Harris stated: "we will come after landlords who charge too much"...

Source? Google doesn't find that quote anywhere but here.

It's out there, Google censored it!!

LOL! Maybe the st00pidest thing I've ever seen on this site. Congratulations!

I think a property owner should be allowed to charge whatever he wants in rent or to sale his property, let the people decide if the price is reasonable

They still can. Did you read what Kamala's plan says?

"Vice President Harris is calling on Congress to pass the Stop Predatory Investing Act, to curtail these practices by removing key tax benefits for major investors who acquire large numbers of single-family rental homes."

I can't understand why they would be giving tax benefits for that, anyway. Corporate welfare is a failure.

I own rental property in another state. Even with no mortgage payments I haven't had a positive cash flow in three years. Insurance, property taxes, and maintenance are killing me.
Will commie Harris send me the money I'm losing every year?
I call BS on this, I have several rental properties in other states too and in the last few years havent raised rent on in 3 years and I still make a profit without overcharging! all my rental properties have no mortgage!

Thanks for another reason to vote for Harris.

Grrr,
I think it's much like the 1st Amendment, Freedom of Speech but with limitations (can't yell fire in a crowded theater, can't threaten others etc.)

I think a property owner should be allowed to charge whatever he wants in rent or to sale his property, let the people decide if the price is reasonable; but I don't think any US property owner should be allowed to sell their US property to a foreign government, there's national interests at play.

The closest I could find was this...

Lowering the Rent for Hardworking Americans by Taking on Corporate and Major Landlords. In addition to ongoing efforts by Vice President Harris and President Biden to expand rental assistance for hard-pressed Americans including for veterans, boost housing supply for those without homes, enforce fair housing laws, and make sure corporate landlords can't use taxpayer dollars to unfairly rip off renters, today she is proposing plans to:

Stop Wall Street Investors from Buying Up and Marking Up Homes in Bulk. Community after community feels taken advantage of by Wall Street investors and distant landlords. Vice President Harris is calling on Congress to pass the Stop Predatory Investing Act, to curtail these practices by removing key tax benefits for major investors who acquire large numbers of single-family rental homes.

Stop Rent-Setting Data Firms From Price Fixing To Raise Rents by Double Digits. Corporate landlords are using private equity-backed price-setting tools to collude with each other and jack up rents dramatically in communities across the country. Vice President Harris is calling on Congress to pass the Preventing the Algorithmic Facilitation of Rental Housing Cartels Act, to crack down on these companies that contribute to surging rent prices.

If I want to rent out my ten acres to Jeff Doe for $1,000, that;s my right.

If I want to sell it to China for $100,000, when it is valued at $50,000...I win!

Don't you love unfettered capitalism?

Grrr,
It's truly amazing that you don't see the difference in someone not being forced to pay a rent that's asked for a property and foreign governments actually buying our country.

Aint nothing different than these pawns fighting the rich mans wars for them.

None of you own 50 rental properties. But for some reason youre led to believe youre the same rich man. You aint that guy.

Yeah, suck it people working to have a place to live. Send them to where ever the homeless people live now that the road has displaced them.

Lefty's want government control over rent with no oversight for what the landlord has to pay out. Lefty's want six months free rent before a landlord can kick a renter out

No one forces anyone to sell to foreign entities, either.

Be consistent there, chief.

Here's the issue with rent prices; during COVID, landlords figured out they could charge more for housing. So, they did. Then, as with most goods/services, when the price went up...it didn't come down. And it won't. Ever, without some form of rent control, enacted by locales, states, or the Feds.

That's how unfettered capitalism works. It eventually leads to a gigantic chasm between the haves (landlords, in this instance) and have nots (renters, in this instance). It is why mill workers lived their lives in tiny mill houses at the turn of the last century, because there were no controls to help them escape. When controls were introduced, the middle class was born.

Grrr,
Maybe it'll read better like this,
If they are going to worry about a business arrangement between consenting adults, why don't they do something about the foreign governments that are buying the USA parcel by parcel. No one forces anyone to rent where they don't want to.

Well, using your logic there Albert, why do you care about a business arrangement between consenting adults?

Instead of worrying about a business arrangement between consenting adults, why don't they do something about the foreign governments that are buying the USA parcel by parcel.
