"firearm mortality rates"...doesn't always mean a crime was committed.
That's a good point, I'm also reading that 60% of deaths from firearms in the US are suicides...
That doesn't really reflect well on the Republican states either, though. Why are they higher in firearm homicide AND higher in suicide?
I tried to find data on firearm homicide per state per capita, and I kept coming across the same data that I posted. Some said "gun violence," but I think they were wrong and that you're right... it's not fair to include suicide when you talk about homicide.
Anti you've been schooled enough on who's doing the shootings in democrat stronghold neighborhoods even in republicans states. I know you've said it, but never proven anything.
In fact, this study found that "the most rural counties in the US had a 37% higher rate of gun deaths per capita than the most urban counties."
In NC, Vance county had the highest rate of firearm homicides per capita at 29.8. Robeson came in second at 28.3. That compares to 10.6 in Mecklenburg. Wilkes was 14.1. Ashe was 15.1, Alleghany was 21.6, and Watauga was 10.5.
The issue has nothing to do with race or party, though... it's all about poverty. All of the stats point to the fact that statewide Republican policies negatively affect poor areas.

The old NRA justification for not having gun control brings an amusing picture to mind: A wild eyed "patriot" confronting a M1 Abrams tank with his trusty AR15.

Those of us with a functioning brain don't believe the lies you and your MAGAT buddies post either. Go back to Yadkin and stay there, you have plenty of brain damaged sheep that share your delusional beliefs over there.

Who are the people against guns? The government. In countries around the world whose citizens have given up their guns have regretted it. They have very little protection against oppressive governments.

who are the people committing gun crimes? It ain't your pretend 35% number
The top 5 states with the highest firearm mortality rates are, in order... Mississippi, Louisiana, New Mexico, Alabama, and Missouri.
Four of those five are heavily Republican. New Mexico is the Democratic exception.
