XTreme 1.6 mod has a patch for that now. You can play online with all your modded games. :)
I just applied mine last night and it works like a champ.

I'm not a serious gamer and am simply migrating from a basic Xbox. I just need a system that will be backwards compatible and has enough disk space to save games. I'm just trying to figure out how much space it takes to store saved games.

If I were you, I'd go with a modded xbox360. $315 for the 110gb hard drive plus Xbox360 with mod. I bought one last month, and I am up to 35 games that I didn't have to pay for. If you decide to look into one, hit me up and I'll give you a few places that have always treated me right.

You may have seen this comparison chart of the various setups. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/h...
It seems the biggest limitations in the Arcade package are the tiny amount of storage space you get and the fact that it's not backward compatible with original Xbox games.
If you have any interest in saving your game progress, playing original Xbox games or downloading content from the web, my advice would be to go ahead and invest another $100 in the standard package.

I'm planning on buying a Xbox 360 and I can't figure out which setup I need. Apparently they come with different sized hard drives or something. I more or less just want the next step up from my old Xbox. I just want to play some games every now and then.
I'm thinking about getting the Xbox 360 Arcade bundle because at $199.99 it's the cheapest. Is there any reason not to buy the cheapest Xbox 360?
