I've always had good luck with linksys. The couple of netgears I've worked with had to be replaced.

When I was looking to purchase my router, I asked my cousin who is very computer savvy. He recommended a Linksys WRT54G. That's what I got and it works great.

Linksys is the way to go, also set it up away from defaults like SSID, change it from channel one. And most of all use a WPA password.

Good luck

I have Netgear and it is great. Had it 3 years. No problems whatsoever. Pretty cheap too.

Is there any particular brand of wireless router that is better than another? Where's the best place to buy one?
