If you're asking the question, you probably have a laptop that's more than five to seven years old, because wireless (802.11 b, g, or most recently n) have been in just about everything from the cheapest netbook to the most deluxe gaming rig for at least that long.

There are USB devices which will add. wireless capability to your system. Or you might want to consider a newer notebook, or even netbook with this capability built-in.

If my assumption is right, and your notebook is five years old or older, even the least expensive notebooks available now are far more powerful. Prices start at under 400 bucks for a good, basic system that can do most everything short of editing high def video or very high resolution photos. And it can do that too...just very s l o w l y!

I often hear of hotels offering free wireless internet use to customers. What do I need for my laptop to take advantage of this? Right now, I'm hardwired into the internet. Thanks!
