I just read an article the other day that listed Vista as one of the top 10 worst tech products of 2007. Any OS that comes with an option to downgrade should tell you all you need to know about it.
If you're getting a new computer, buy a Mac. Those things are slick!

If you have any older hardware you plan on using that, make sure it will work with Vista. I have a tv tuner/capture card, a wireless lan adapter, a MediaMVP box, a Garmin StreetPilot III GPS - none of which have drivers for Vista. I'm now running Ubuntu (which had drivers for all of these built in, plug and play!) as my main OS, and Vista Corporate as my secondary/gaming OS.
BTW, COD4 rocks!

We purchased a new computer within the last 6 months and it came with Vista (from Dell). After getting used to it, we are pleased with it. The only problem I've encountered is that some of my daughter's games don't/won't work well with Vista. You have to make sure the game specifies it is Vista compatible or the language says something like "XP and up".
Hope this helps.

I have one with XP and one with vista. Some of the older programs do not run or install on vista (ex some of the music programs) But I have talked to a few computer people and they all say that Vista is going to be replacing XP so its really a matter of what you are willing to try and give up. To me it just looks like vista had moer buttons and do dads that I dont have a clue what they are for.

Vistas is out the window. Most everyone in my grad classes bought new computers for all of our work and thought new is best. Unfortunately vistas has functions that fail to work and ties up way too much of the computer. Most of the computer systems we connect to for school do not interface with this system and the new programs inside. My classmates must then transfer their files to another computer system to send into school. When buying a computer, Dell will let you choose XP just to keep the sale. Vistas also may not have connections to some of your equipment as the downloads are not yet available from those manufacturers. A good friend of mine had Vistas given to his city school system and they had to remove it due to all of the problems they were having.

Had to go to the dell website and download drivers for each component after installing xp. You can still get a dell with xp. I encourage you to look into that. Do not make the mistake of vista listen to the voices who know.

I recently bought a new Compaq Presario and it came with Windows Vista. So far I have not had any problems other than what everyone else has stated,,,Compatibility issues. I have used '98, XP, and now Vista. I like '98 better, with Vista coming in a close second place.

I bought a laptop with vista and switched to XP. Vista is not desirable. Also windows is making programs that are not compatible with old systems so they can sell new stuff. What a bunch of junk that is.

I've stated this before on another thread...IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP!!!
If you are considering buying a new computer, check out www.dell.com.
You can order a new computer, either desktop or notebook and they will build it with XP or Vista...whichever way you want it. It must tell you something, when a manufacturer will give you the option of what type OS for your unit.
Vista is just like every other system that Bill Gates has come up with...rushed to market before all the bugs were out of it. Also, if you go with Vista, you will need to download patches for your old programs to operate...IF..the manufacturer has one available.
My Wench does bookkeeping and payrolls for various companies, and the programs for these clients will not operation on Vista and there are no patches for them. So she either spends $1,000+ for new programs, (which her clients will also have to purchase) or orders a new laptop for $499 from Dell. You figure which is the better deal.

I was wondering how many are using Windows Vistas? Do you like it better than XP? I am planning getting a new computor and trying to decide which OS to go with. Thanks.
