Chris87, Problem solved. Downloaded AVG AntiVirus Free software. Ran the virus checker. Then ran their PC Tune up, Fix common problems, ticked Windows Update does not work, program ran, rebooted, and problem solved. Don't know what it fixed but it fixed it. Thanks again for the advice.

Chris87, Read the article. Nothing worked. I was able to manually download the 3 security updates to my desktop. However, they would not install. I ran MicroSoft Fix it 50202 which gave me errror code 0x8024001e. I cannot find a fix for that on MS website. I may have to resort to running Dell Backup & Recovery to return to factory settings. I am not running any software on that computer but MS office. That is easy to reinstall. It is my wife's and she just uses email and the internet. Again I say thanks for the help.

Delete all the contents in the software distribution folder and let it repopulate.

Chris87, No, I am not running Comodo firewall. When I get to Sofetware Distribution folder, there are seven folders within that folder. Do I need to delete them are just the contents within one or more of those folders? One of those folders is labeled "Downloads" and it is full. Thanks for the help.

Click the start button and type in services.msc and open the services page. Stop the Windows Update Service Navigate to the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder and delete the contents inside of that folder. Go back to the services page and Enable/Start the Windows Update Service again Retry the updates and see if they progress and start downloading.
If this doesn't work there's other tricks we can try. Also you're not running Comodo firewall on that computer are you?

I am running windows 7. When I check for updates and try to download them, it says downloading 0 kb total, 0 % complete. Will never download. I have tried every trick that I know, short of reinstalling Win7. Don't want to do that. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for any help. By the way, I have another computer running Win7 and no problems with downloads.
