Thanks

If anyone can use it let me know, I need to move it.

I will keep it in mind Billy.
When I have service calls like that, it is mostly warranty issues or insurance related suppliers. I don't have enough accounts like them to make you a fair offer otherwise I would.

@bennett I have a complete POS system that I can sell you for not much more than that, it was used about 6 months before the resturant went belly up.

Radiant system with;

Radiant server running Vista Business(with COA)

2 15" touch screens, embeded XP and card readers (both have the ability to install IDE drives)

4 Okidata Reciept printers

Cash Drawer

Has ALOHA installed now but the dongle was lost in the move, so that software will be removed

I haven't used it, but just looking at Windows 8, it reminds me a lot of Ubunut's Unity.

Hp has some nice AIO out there. The whole hand held trend is a joke. No one really wants to stair a a 7 in screen. The mini's can be useful in the field. Mine is loaded with tools.

Desktops and laptops will always be around. Users and businesses are not going to shell out top dollar every time a screen goes down. The last time I replaced a POS station in a red lobster, it was to the tune of 1800 dollars.

I think the new interface will work well form an administration point of view. I lock down the metro bar with only approved applications on it. It should work well. Hope fully the net-share and slip streaming becomes easier. I find imaging to be a pain in the ***

If Microsoft want this OS to be successful They should allow the users to select their own interface.
Overall I am impressed with the stability even with a hacked start menu. The drivers databases seems to be a full upgrade form vista and 7.

I really hope Windows 8 fails miserably and I think it will from what I hear. With the way everything is going in technology many PC techs such as myself may be out of business. Desktops will soon dissapear from the shelves. They are being replaced already with the touchscreen PC's.

Those have to be a real pain in the *** to work on. Well gotta reup my skills on the new stuff such as these and ultrabooks which should actually be a joy to work on after dealing with traditional laptops for so long. Thank God for Traditional Laptops and Netbooks. They are the only two device types keeping me in business right now. However I do work on alot of Desktops as well but it won't be much longer I'm sure.

I will stick to Windows 7 and or Vista with SP2 for all my machines business and personal except for one old desktop one I will use with XP SP3 until Windows 8 is no longer supported. We shall see what the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 holds in store for a new Windows 9.

I expect Windows 9 will be a better balance of Desktop and Smart Phone or Tablet devices that work well and becomes what Windows 8 v2.0. Windows Vista SP2 is not trash anymore. I'm looking forward to the new SP3 for both Vista and 7. Yes Microsoft is indeed in the development stages of Vista SP3. I researched it thoroughly. It is way overdue.

Vista is decent to say the least with SP1 and good or better with SP2. Microsoft saved Vista from being extinct with SP2. Let's just hope SP3 doesn't screw everything up again. I honestly doubt the true need for it really. Mom's Vista Custom build runs like a champ with 2 GB.

This laptop runs just a smooth with a mere 1 GB of standard DDR Ram. No lie, I was very surprised as well. The laptop of course is running Vista home basic and Mom's desktop is running Vista Home Premium. Both machines our extremly clean.

The Windows 8 OS is faster, however, I think forcing everyone to touchscreen mode is a mistake. Desktop users will not be happy.

It seems like they took Xp Media center and the window phone and put it over top of 7
The reg hack was removied so I installed Vi orb and Vi start

If your and xbox live user I think you may like it . Also the apps work ok but I have not figured out if they are really customizable.

I would rather read Google news not the huff post

I agree Win 8 is awkward and not for most PC users, it looks as if it was designed more for touch screen users like the cell phones and tablets.... Do you think Microsoft is trying to tell us something?

Yea I totally agree. To save people some time from having to find out how to actually hack the windows 8 version. Here is how you do it

WIN+R and then type REGEDIT and press enter.
browse to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
select RPEnabled and change the value from 1 to Zero

You can still toggle between the two by using the windows key.

You can get Windows 8 at http://dev.windows.com

From what I've been hearing, there's a way to set the windows to use the standard desktop layout. Heres a link that shows you how to do it

I have been testing 8 for a little while now.
There is a snap window and left side tool bar, no start bar and it does not boot to directly to desktop.
The snap window reminds me a Linux feature
The left side setting bar is convenient however seems to lack any real or new functions
The start bar is gone and the new menu bar is neat looking but lacks the easy use of the start bar.

Not booting to the desktop is fine if all you want to do is browse the net.
Window 8 detected hardware that was not supported in 7 but was supported in vista
so that's one good thing. I think the new menu system would be great for a media PC but that's about it

With out a start bar there is no way on earth I will recommend this for anyone.

I think windows 8 is the next vista or Me only worse
