Everything I've heard about Win7 has been good. But I won't be buying it. I've been spoiled by the world of Linux. It's kind of sad that we have to be cautiously optimistic and hope for decent quality from a product we pay hundreds of dollars for.

You're not the only one. It's basically a streamlined Vista under the hood, so we shouldn't have the driver issues that were so maddening with Vista.

Critics are raving about it, but actual performance tests, at least on powerful multi-core PCs, show it to be so close to Vista that most people won't notice much difference.

But it uses less system resources, so you should get decent performance on systems that could NEVER run Vista.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
