Satan is correct in where the tool is, but scandisk would be "Error-Checking". If you tell it to correct the errors on the two check boxes, it will force you to reboot into a dos based scan disk.

hit start .. all programs.. accessories.. system tools.. disk clean up
same thing to defrag

does xp have no way at all to scan disk on the program??? i always used it on me ,,but cant find it on my xp,,,any help would be great
