It's most likely an encryption problem. If you don't have neighbors nearby, just turn off all encryption to your wifi signal.

That will allow anyone to use your internet, so don't do it if you have neighbors or are worried that people will begin camping on your front lawn. You can stop that by going to your router's settings and tell it not to broadcast the name of your network if you want-- this will make your network invisible but without the silly encryption.

You need to try it with the wii within 20' of your router, to make sure it can connect, unless you know your wifi signal does reach to your TV room. It could also be a reception issue too...

GO TO INTERNET SETTINGS AND FIND YOUR ROUTER OR YOU MAY HAVE A PASSWORD ON YOUR WIFI

Make sure the your wireless is the same Wireless b, g, N? Does it have a password? Is the type of encryption the same? Are they within range of each other? With wireless it could be many things. Hard objects will reflect wireless and soft objects will absorb it.
