when did computers stop using floppies?

Floppy disks are sooo 1998.
The floppy suffers from two big problems. First, they are highly susceptible to file corruption. It's always a hassle when your valuable data suddenly goes bye-bye. Second, the continuously decreasing price of superior technology like flash drives has virtually made the floppy obsolete. A single 1GB flash drive has the capacity of 711 floppy disks, and is much more reliable.

I went to read a 3.5 x 5 floppy disk in my computer today and realized it didn't have a place to put it. When did computers stop having those drives installed as standard? Does anyone know if the public library computers can read floppies? If not, how in the heck am I supposed to get the data I need on this disk?
