Dell.com is a great place to start for a new laptop. You will need to keep your existing internet connection but you will have to buy a wireless router. you can get a wireless N routher if you want to pay a lot or you can go with a wireless G router which is a great type also. N is the new technology and the expensive one. If you get a wireless router you will want to look into securing it so noone can use your network or spy on your internet habits. as for traveling around you will have to scan for networks that are not secured so that you can connect and get on the internet but you have to watch what networks you get onto. (Check local laws)
I am a Dell Certified Systems Expert in desktop repair and wireless technology. If you need any help call me @ 336 262 2945 ProTech Networks http://www.pro-tech.5u.com

Most hotels have free internet, there are some wireless packages that allows you to have internet "anywhere" but I'm not sure on how good the signal strength is.

Make sure the video card in your laptop supports all the newer games.
With a Wireless N router you can use your laptop anywhere in your home, make sure the laptop you purchase already has a wireless card, most of them do.
The wireless N router is 49.99 at staples
