sounds like the sound card is out. You can get one for aound $25. Easy to put in. just plug it in an empty slot

I've done both of those things...volume is set at defaults, and there are no device conflicts...everything says it's working fine...

are you kidding me

are you sure you adjusted the system volume properties? also, check your sound card in the device manager

I got two towers that I intermingled some parts on. The tower I am trying to use had an issue where no matter how high I turned the volume on any adjustment system I could find, I still couldn't hear anything. Well, if I put the exterior speakers to my ear at max. volume, I could barely hear the music. So, after some poking around inside, all the volume/cd player parts were still original to the tower, mind you, I decided to trade CD players with the other tower because the CD player I WAS using was skipping. Well, now the CD player I switched is smooth...but the volume issue is the same. Can't even get any significant sound with headphones. The current tower I am trying to use DOES have a built-in mini speaker, but it doesn't seem to work either, and I can't understand why I am not getting more sound out of my external speakers. Like I said, I have adjusted EVERY FLIPPIN' control I can bloody well find. Inside and out. The way I see it, if the speakers work at all, which they do, it must be a setting somewhere. PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I GO INSANE.
