I've used norton since it first came out... and on 10 pc's never had a problem it could not resolve.

free anti-virus software can work, but you get what you pay for.

if your internet connection still works, you can use TRENDMICRO and go to their HOUSECALL page. It will fix your PC in real-time for free... but it's not ongoing protection. It only scans/fixes when you go to their site and initiate a check. But it's free. Plus, this is the software Yahoo uses to scan all email attachments going through their public email system... so you know it's got to work and work very well.

its a montly fee or u can pay for a full year i have iShield as well its a one time fee but I wouldn't bother with it if you dont have children plus they guarantee it will clean up your computer or you get your money back (so they say) I've never had anything it didn't so I'm not sure about that one.

But I would recommend wilkesmans idea of trying AVG first cause its free and it normally works really well for me just didn't solve this one problem

where do u find it, at walmart or something. The place that I purchased my laptop from was going to charge me $200 just to get it off. I just want to be able to use my laptop..I have had the most problems with it.

My daughter installed a virus on my computer with all her random searching for kids dress up games I have 4 virus scanners and spy ware blockers including AVG installed on my computer and non of them could remove it. I finally got rid of it after I purchases Stop Sign. Its not free and it can be a pain in the butt cause it will try to block alot of stuff you dont want it to, but if nothing else works its worth a try.

Yes, you can buy an anti-virus at anyplace that sells computers, or you can go to www.download.com and download AVG for free and then update it.

I noticed that I can't play the games that came with my new laptop also. Any advice plz let me know.
