Avast is a good Anti-Virus program, and it's free. This was recommended to me by the man that worked on my puter, and he is really good. I took mine to Steve Johnson at Express Computer Clinic 973-0300, and haven't had any problems since I followed his advice on what virus and spyware programs to use....and they are all free. If you want to PM me, I can give you the links to where you can go to download these programs.

an easy approach for a novice user is to use an online virus scanner, many can be found via google, though the detection rates will vary. the key is finding out which variant of the virus or trojan you may have, often antivirus vendors will provide free removal tools for specific common infections. though, if you do things such as online banking its possible your entire machine has been compromised. it's best, if using a windows based operating system to properly secure it before connecting to the internet.

If you have the recovery disk that most PC's come with, you can format your pc using the disk and that will get rid of any virus on it. But MAKE SURE you save anything on your pc that you might want to keep on to an external devise or cd.

Download AVG virus protection. Its free. Just type in Avg.com and follow instructions. I had a virus on my computer and I downloaded AVG and it took it away. This was a couple weeks ago and I haven't seen anything else come up since then.
