If you network your PC with anything other than other PCs, kiss your networking goodbye with Windows 7. Their DLNA-compatible network protocols are horrible.

I would not do an OS upgrade because your video card may not be compatible. My advise is to buy a new computer that was designed for windows 7 to avoid compatibility problems. People tried this with Vista and their computer never worked properly after the upgrade. The next issue is it may take several months for all the drivers to be released to allow you to use your printer and other equipment.

There are many reasons to upgrade to Windows 7. It is as fast if not faster than XP, uses less memory than Vista, boots faster and is very scaleable.

I just opened two browser windows side-by-side on Firefox 3.5 (under Ubuntu 9.10). No problem at all. Yes, I know they lock together under Win 7, but is this really any big deal? Personally, I'd rather open multiple tabs fullscreen, and tab back and forth between what I'm comparing. Am I missing something?

I really love it. It is so much easier to use and I love the new features. I do most of my shopping online and it is great to have two windows open side by side with scroll bars on each to comparison shop. I went from XP to 7, so I cannot comment on the Vista. I like being able to preview my open open windows from the task bar. I think the hide feature is cool, although I rarely use it but can see where folks would find that handy. Love the task bar icons. My desktop is uncluttered if that is important to you. I have not had any problems, so I would recommend installing it. You can preview the features on the Windows 7 website and decide before you install but I have had no problems using it.

I"m due a Windows 7 disk, and have no idea whether I'll install it or not. My Gateway laptop is rock-solid...never a problem (Vista 64 bit, Service Pack 2, fully updated).

That's right...a Vista system that's actually responsive...fast even, and reliable. Should I mess with that? I just dunno'.

Ask yourself this....

Why do you think you need to upgrade, right now?

Just because you can?

I recieved my Windows 7 upgrade in the mail Tuesday. Should I install it or just leave Vista on here? Has anyone on here used Windows 7? How is it different? I know this should be posted in Tech talk, but I thought I would get more responses here.
