tv repair

i think they are shooting themselves in the foot by saying "$$$ just to look at it"... people get turned off by that attitude.

if they were smart, they would just say "$20 minimum charge for all TV's brought in for service, if fixed or not".... I'd be more willing to let them look at it.

it's all in the wording.. $20 just to open it up? heck, I can do that...

call wilkes tv and tell him what model you have and what the tv is doing. many times he can tell you close to what it might cost or if it is even worth it. really nice guy.

the man has to make a living somehow. $20.00 seems like a reasonable bench fee.
tv's are pretty much one time use any more and then they are disposable .
not many people even bother having them repaired anymore.
pay $300.00-$600.00 for one it works 5-10-15 year's .
then tech changes your ready for a new one.

oops the one I went to wasn't the one by the coffee house, it is about 2 stores away from the KFC and PC Source.

charging me to open my TV. what the **** is wrong with them? I offered to do it myself and bring them the TV and the "brain box" all disassembled for them (takes all of 2 minutes) but they said no.

And the price they quoted for the brain box? $4-500 without labor? get outta here. I found them on the internet for $175. Swapped them out and my TV is fine now.

I went there, and they wanted a rediculous amount just to open the TV up, not to do any actual work, or find the problem.

Is your TV an LCD?
