I've not heard of anyone having this problem on IE6. I'm using the same version (6.0.2900), and haven't ever had a problem like that.
Is it possible that the Autocomplete feature is plugging in the wrong password automatically? You can try going to Tools > Internet Options > Content, then click on "AutoComplete", then "Clear Passwords".
That's the only solution that comes to mind, but if I think of something else I'll let you know.

I'm using IE 6.0.2900 on one PC, and IE 7 on the other. I changed the settings to check for the newest page on both PC's but it's still prompting me for username/password over and over again. Any other suggestions? Thanks

This is covered in the FAQs, here:

This is a common problem for users of Internet Explorer 7.0. This is a very buggy browser!
What happens is that it does log you in, but it stores the header of the page into the browsers cache. So instead of showing you the correct header, it shows the one from before you logged in.
The easiest way to resolve this is to go to Tools > Internet Options, then click on "Settings". Change the setting "Check for newer version of stored pages" to "Every visit to the page". Then click on "Apply" and "OK" to close each window, close Internet Explorer, wait about 30 seconds then re-open it.
If this doesn't help, you can also revert back to Internet Explorer version 6.5. Here is an article that explains how to do this:

Does anyone else have trouble accessing Members only area of gowilkes? I can log in, it says I've logged in, then try to go to the members only area and it prompts me to log in again (and again and again). About 1 in 5 times it will actually put me through. I've disabled pop up blockers, updated java, and tried different pc's. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something I'm doing wrong?
